Report #170 from lg3

Then-Current Conditions - 76F / 24C | Mostly Cloudy - 8:53 PM CDT Jul. 28

fishing was very slow out there...just peaked for a few minutes at about 9pm when the sun was almost gone gone.  got a funny story to tell tho...take a close look at the pic in the album from tonite.   how dumb northern are!  this one gave me a $7 refund!

anyway, in the 5 minutes of love out there tonite, got about 3 10 inchers and the one 17 (in the album).  birch was D E D .... but these all came off our old spot on the flat here, between flat, sand and tiger musky.  10 feet of water, shad rap over the weeds.
Just got back from 5 days of island camping. Fishing was slower than slow. Got a few 10-inch walleyes in a favorite spot that shall remain nameless (but it is down Blueberry Creek way) that produced great last fall and earlier this summer. Got some usual hammerhandles. Fished for muskies some around Pete's Bar, Birch Island, Scott Lake. Finally raised a small one around the Church Bars (surprised to see that big bog finally blown out the Church Bar area-and I don't miss the Hwy CC bridge bog one bit). Got a nice smallmouth bass on a surface muskie lure--now I've seen everything. Overall fishing was slow, maybe it was the Thursday evening storm that shut them off. Thought I'd see some of the regular posters here out by Sand Island in the evening, but I was usually high-tailing it back to my island by about 8:30 p.m. I gave it a try there a few nights, but zero luck.

Almost forgot...There was one more thing I never saw before until Saturday night. I was fishing between Sand Island, Flat Island and Tiger Musky when this huge boat towing what was probably the youngest, littlest waterskier I have ever seen came past me blasting the song "Mr. Roboto" by Queen. It made the fishless night so much more entertaining.

While we enjoy excellent fishing today, 90% of the juvenile walleye population has disappeared in recent years. Help keep the Chippewa Flowage healthy.
