Tubes and swimmers. Tubes and swimmers. You've probably heard everyone talking (and talking and talking) about em for just about any species of fish. Alright, I'll give it a try.

1. For tubes, here's my favorite. New for 09, the Mister Mino can be fished as a tube or on a regular jighead. In addition to the versatility, I like the natural, real-life look (you thought there was a real minnow on your screen, didnt you?) as well as the "slow fall" benefit of all tubes.
2. As for soft swimmers, I like the Mister Twister Sassy Shad standby. A larger profile not only allows for a weedless rigging, but also can make quite a commotion underwater. One thing I found last year is that you may want to go to a bigger hook - maybe a 1/0 or 2/0 - to give it firmer "vertical body" to swim better. (I'll do another post on hooks and jigheads)
3. And speaking of standby's, I got my eXude curly tail grubs as well. When I mention "jig n' plastic" throughout the year, this is what I'm using. I don't think anything beats this setup for getting finicky fish out of brushpiles when the cranks aren't workin and you can't "dance" the live bait well enough. This technique (and this plastic) was responsible for 35 walleyes in one hour last year, as well as some bigger fish.
Everything I've ordered is in either natural, silver colors or white - although I must say I thought about the bullhead coloring pictured above.
So that's plastic. Ain't it fantastic?
