Report #1263 from Andracke

Then-Current Conditions : 60F / 16C, Clear - 8:53 PM CDT Jul. 29

Well sadly I had it in me and so did a certain musky.  Around 40"     But my solo musky netting abilites have failed me!!!!   Tonight I had one on right around sun down.   Finally got the fish right next to the boat - It was a lot of fun!!!  Had my rod in one hand the net in the other.  Went for it...  And after that just a few swear words!!  Sorry to those other boats that were near me!

I am pretty new to musky fishing and this would have been my first fish.  I have had the worst luck at this!!!  No seriously my luck is horrible!

Last night a boat wave put my topwater on the crest of the wave while a musky shot through the middle of the wave and sailed right under the bait.  I did go back after it but no hooks for me...

Last year I had one to the boat when my fishing partner was trying to move his pole out of the way  - He wrapped his bait around my rod.  I was able to undo the bait while keeping the fish on but he didnt get in the net either.........

So the story continues...........  Its time for a drink!!

Ha ha - below its asking me if I would like to submit a picture with this report.  I dont think you guys need to see me hold a bottle of captain morgan.....

Fishing with LAR tomorrow!!  We may throw for musky a little bit - Who knows?

if you put up a pic of you and the captain, ill match you with action shots of my budlight evening.

haha...as long as its the lure your talkin about. Andracke, I'd really enjoy spendin some time on a musky hunt. If you can keep em hooked long enough, I'll swim out there with the net.

Jenks Fishing Report - Wednesday, July 29, 2009 Walleye fishing continues to be spotty. Maybe the time of year vs. the water temperature is fooling all of us--I know it's July but maybe the water is cool enough that we should be trying minnows. Muskie action is ok. It continues to be best on bucktails. Still catching a lot of crappies. Cribs with minnows or tube skirts and bogs in the evening. Find some deeper weeds or brush and a waxie or worm should be pretty good. Bass fishing has slowed a little more than it should have for this time of year--again, maybe water temp has something to do with it. Some scattered rain and cooler on Thurs, nice Fri then 70's and scattered rain on Sat and Sun. Water level, Low but holding at 1311. Rain and cool temps are keeping the discharge at a minimum. Water temperature, You'd never know it's July. Water temps are in the upper 60's.

Voluntary 14" Minimum, 1 Fish Bag
While we enjoy excellent fishing today, 90% of the juvenile walleye population has disappeared in recent years. Help keep the Chippewa Flowage healthy.
