Report #171 from lg3

Then-Current Conditions - 75F / 24C | Clear - 8:53 PM CDT Jul. 29

an absolutely beautiful nite out there...the sunset in the west and the big orange full moon in the east.  no wind, no clouds....and  nice temps.

unfortunately, the fish were also apparently staring at the sky....and not our lures.  mc and i both went out for an hour and a half....and we got one 14 incher on the shadrap in f8.

definitely definitely slowin down lately....at least on an average.  maybe time to change tactics a bit?  we'll see this week i spose.

Sorry about getting this in late but... Saturday morning was really dead too. Found nothing around Jackpine/Eagle/Sisko/Birch/Banana areas. I tried bare jigs and plastics, crawlers and leeches, 12' weeds and 29' woody humps. Got only 1 walleye. I'll blame this one on the sunny, windless conditions. Sunday morning was better with a bunch of scattered small walleyes. I did have one decent one but I lost him when I got lazy and tried to lift him into the boat instead of getting the net. I did find some really nice perch and bluegills fairly deep around some boggy stuff on the north side of Eagle Island. BTW...What's anybody else's opinion of water levels and surface conditions. I think that it's down but not as low as last year at this time. I've also been surprised that I haven't seen many bogs floating to the surface yet.

yeah, its def down a bit. not too bad tho, yer right, compared to last year. the boats arent beached here in lil lagoon and I have no trouble getting out. the assn must have talked the power company into some concessions. it IS goin down gradually though. so aug might be a lil rough. not sure what I think about how it affects the fishing. afterall, it just makes you find new spots a few feet out, right? ill tell you the one factor ive been watching lately. lunar periods. i, like many, figured it wasnt worth the time it takes to research it. however, last nite I went through our reports from the last two years and some interesting trends appeared for sure! not to subtract from Greg's question....but has anyone else paid attn to either factor? regardless of the above, it seems there's only one truth. more time on the water = more fish. so dont let either keep you from droppin the boat in whenever you can.

While we enjoy excellent fishing today, 90% of the juvenile walleye population has disappeared in recent years. Help keep the Chippewa Flowage healthy.
